Biography
A midfielder with great temperament and dynamism, Francesco Cassata was born in 1997 in Sarzana and grew up in the beautiful setting of San Terenzo. After beginning his journey with Spezia’s youth ranks, he further developed at Empoli’s academy before joining Juventus’ Primavera side.
He made his professional debut in the 2016/17 season with Ascoli in Serie B, quickly standing out as one of the league’s most promising youngsters. The following year, Sassuolo won the race for his signature, handing him his Serie A debut at the age of 20. With the Neroverdi, he also scored his first top-flight goal, netting against Chievo on April 4, 2018.
The next season saw him move to newly promoted Frosinone, while from 2019/20 he returned to Liguria with Genoa, where he spent two and a half seasons. He then went on to play for Parma and later Ternana, before finally coming home to the Gulf of Poets to wear the shirt of his hometown club, where over the past two seasons he has collected more than 60 appearances.
