Biography
He made his debut in the white shirt at just over twenty years old and went on to define an entire decade, becoming one of Spezia’s true club icons. In fact, he ranks second all-time for appearances in the white jersey, with an impressive 414 matches.
A fullback known for his solid marking and tireless running, he was also used in midfield early in his career. His first appearance came in a midfield role in Olbia–Spezia on September 14, 1969, wearing the number 8 shirt, in a match that ended 1–1. Playing as a midfielder, he also scored his first career goal in a 2–1 home win over Rimini on November 23, 1969.
For many years he was an automatic starter for the Aquilotti, typically wearing the number 2 or 3 shirts—classic numbers for the “romantic” fullbacks of old-school football. Goals were never his main calling card in the white jersey: he scored just five, though it should have been six. In Novi Ligure during the 1974–75 season, an incredible long-range strike of his ripped through the net, fooling the referee, who inexplicably ruled it a corner kick instead of a goal.
His official goals came against Giulianova, Biellese, Mantova, and Reggiana—the most memorable being a dramatic last-minute equalizer in Reggio Emilia, making it 1–1 in a match that has always carried special significance.
Over twelve league seasons in the white shirt, he added a Serie C1 promotion to his résumé, achieved at the end of the 1979–1980 season.
From the 2022–23 to the 2023–24 season, he coached Spezia’s Primavera team, and since 2024 he has served as Head of the Youth Sector for the club on Via Melara.
