With the signatures of the two presidents, Donatella Bianchi for the Cinque Terre National Park and Philip Raymond Platek Jr for the Spezia Calcio Club, the collaboration agreement between the Park Authority and the Club that has been playing in Serie A for three seasons was formalized today at a press conference, aimed at promoting environmental, cultural and ethical values inspired by the principles of environmental sustainability, with the aim of safeguarding and promoting the excellence of a unique territory, also through the involvement of the younger generations.
For the president of the Park, Donatella Bianchi: "The Cinque Terre Park is not only an attractor of international tourism but it is also an incubator of good practices and models of life more compatible with the environment. Through the prestigious collaboration with Spezia Calcio, with which we share the attachment to local identities and a common commitment to sustainability, we can support innovative projects, virtually expand our boundaries by reaching new interlocutors, to exploit our experience in terms of nature and landscape conservation and trace a guide in the path of ecological transition that can no longer be postponed".
For the president of Spezia Calcio, Philip Platek: "Spezia Calcio wants to be an expression not only of a wonderful city, but of the whole surrounding area that every year attracts tourists from all over the world. The Cinque Terre Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a territory as wonderful as it is fragile and as a Serie A club that can count on a huge sounding board, we want to talk to young people about environmental restoration projects, impact reduction, education to sport and positive lifestyles. Spezia Calcio wants to represent a model and we have found in the Park the ideal partner with which to start a path aimed at territorial enhancement on the one hand and sustainability on the other, with the aim always calibrated on the new generations, who represent our future".
Through this new agreement, the two realities, projected into the sharing of universal values expression of the sporting challenge and the dialectical relationship between man and nature, will be engaged for the first time in a series of joint initiatives: from the dissemination of knowledge of the excellences guarded by the Park and its tools for safeguarding biodiversity and the terraced landscape, the planning of environmental restoration projects also aimed at reducing impacts, in line with the urgencies dictated by the climate crisis; up to the promotion of training and recreational experiences of contact with nature to promote a fruition compatible with the needs of a protected area. Against the background of the link between psychophysical well-being and outdoor activities, one of the first concrete actions identified by the partnership concerns the redevelopment of some paths of the Park, in a cultural, naturalistic and inclusive key to be supported also through specific fundraising campaigns promoted by Spezia Calcio.
During the event, organized in navigation along the coast of the Marine Protected Area, on board the boat of the Consorzio Turistico Marittimo Cinque Terre Golfo dei Poeti, the third jersey of the team was unveiled, inspired by the Cinque Terre and among the main fundraising tools to be dedicated to environmental restoration projects in the protected area." We worked on a shirt that could synthesize many ideas and ambitions that we had in mind" – the words of the Chief Revenue Officer of Spezia Calcio, Luca Scafati – "First of all it had to be an expression of this magnificent territory, with its colors, its light, its energy. At the same time we wanted it to wink at the younger generations: yellow, the universal symbol of generation Z, today's teenagers precisely, because among the many goals we have is to bring more and more young people closer to this sport and together with the Park we want to talk about physical activity, outdoors, healthy lifestyles. The new shirt will debut in Turin, against Juventus, and the jerseys of the players will immediately go to auction to support the projects chosen with great sensitivity by the Park".
The first fundraising project will be dedicated to the creation of the "door of inclusiveness in the Park", a space for activities in nature, fully accessible to all, on the ridge between the Cinque Terre and La Spezia, a symbol of solidarity hiking. In particular, it will concern the adaptation of the ring route from the Colle del Telegrafo to the Sanctuary of Montenero, in order to allow an extended use also to people with reduced motor and visual skills.
The improvements will be dedicated to the practicability of the path, to the reception and to the communication and will be carried out in collaboration with the CAI and the Alpine Rescue of La Spezia and the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired - ONLUS-APS La Spezia. Among the central elements of the collaboration agreement, the bet on the younger generations, crucial both for the Park and for Spezia Calcio. The bridge between these worlds will be built through the environmental education activities of the CEA, environmental education center of the Cinque Terre Park, which will be aimed at youth teams and will revolve around the issues of safeguarding ecosystems and biodiversity; the spread of positive and sustainable lifestyles and knowledge of the most representative routes and areas of the protected area.
