LA SPEZIA – Coach Claudio Terzi's Spezia Primavera delivered another impressive performance, following up their 5-0 victory over Monopoli in the first round with an identical result in the second preliminary round. With this win over Pescara, Spezia secures a spot in the Round of 32 of the Coppa Italia, where they will face Monza on October 30, a team competing in the Primavera 1 championship.
It was a dominant display by the Aquilotti, who controlled the match at their home ground, the “Ferdeghini,” leaving no room for the Abruzzese side. They started strong, taking the lead in the 15th minute when Viola capitalized on a well-timed assist from Ferrazza. The second goal came in the 36th minute, again involving Ferrazza, who was fouled inside the box. Brio calmly converted the penalty, making it 2-0 before halftime.
In the second half, Ferrazza continued to trouble the Biancazzurri defense, scoring in the 61st minute with a brilliant solo effort. Just moments after coming on, Tognoni added a fourth, reacting quickly to a swiftly taken free kick that caught the opposing defense off guard. In the closing stages, after Di Giorgio struck the post, Piccioli sealed the 5-0 scoreline with a penalty, earned by Vannucci.
Here are Coach Claudio Terzi's post-match remarks: "I’m very pleased with the attitude the boys brought to the field today, which was missing a bit in our last friendly. I asked them to show the fire they have inside, and today that was clear. Of course, we also showed our qualities, which are many, but I always remind the boys that without the competitive edge and the hunger needed to overcome opponents, those qualities can’t shine. So, once again, I’m most satisfied with the attitude we showed on the field.
We earned a convincing win, but what matters to me most is that in our first two official matches of the season, we’ve consistently delivered strong performances. That’s what’s key for me; games can sometimes be decided by small moments, but when you perform well, the journey becomes much smoother in the long run. Naturally, I’m thrilled we’ve advanced, and it will be exciting to face Monza, a Primavera 1 team, on October 30.
We need to keep moving forward on this path, with the desire to keep improving and making progress. When we were in possession today, we did well, but in some moments without the ball, we could have done even better. We need to learn how to handle pressure when the other team starts passing more, all while staying organized and focused.
In football, just a momentary lapse in concentration can reopen a game that seemed closed. The players need to understand that from the opening whistle to the final one, they have to stay fully engaged, without switching off. That’s how we improve, and that’s how we can help more players reach the professional level."
