ASCOLI PICENO - The Primavera team of coach Claudio Terzi has secured its third consecutive victory in as many league matches, adding to the two decisive Cup wins, achieving five straight victories at the start of the season.
The match was never in doubt on the challenging field of Ascoli, led by former Aquilotto Luigi Giorgi, with Spezia breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute thanks to Di Giorgio, who opened his day of glory by heading in after Felici hit the crossbar from the edge of the area, assisted by Ferrazza. The Aquilotti doubled their lead in the 36th minute through another initiative on the right from Ferrazza, who skillfully set up Viola, who scored with a precise shot past Sciammarella. Just before halftime, Ascoli appeared poised to get back into the game with Lo Scalzo's goal, resulting from a well-executed play by the Marche side. However, for the home team, it was just a fleeting hope, as Bertoncini made it 3-1 with a precise header from a corner taken by the ever-reliable Ferrazza moments before the halftime whistle.
In the second half Spezia came out strong, determined to seal the victory quickly, and just four minutes in, Di Giorgio found the net for the fourth time, perfectly finishing from a Viola assist. Ascoli attempted to get back into the match in the 6th minute with a goal from Gorica, but in the 21st minute, the final score of 5-2 came from a penalty awarded after Viola was fouled in the Marche area. Di Giorgio converted the penalty, deceiving the goalkeeper and completing his hat trick.
The Aquilotti are now at the top of the standings with a perfect score after three matches and will host Benevento in their next match on the "Ferdeghini" pitch.
"The boys delivered another great performance, and everyone who played today made a significant contribution; I made a few changes compared to the last match, and as I always tell the players, you must work hard to be ready when called upon, and that was true today as well," said a satisfied Claudio Terzi after the match in Ascoli. "Those who started today for the first time performed excellently, as did the rest of the team, and I’m very pleased with that because playing football requires hard work and constant focus. It’s definitely nice to start the season with three wins in as many games, so let’s enjoy the moment, but from tomorrow, we must already focus on the next challenge against Benevento, which will undoubtedly be demanding. What did I say to the players? They celebrated, as they should, but I prefer to always speak calmly, analyzing the matches in detail and their incidents, trying to understand what we need to improve and highlighting what worked well. I repeat, we need to continue with humility and focus because only by training hard and maintaining this attitude can we compete at the top until the end".
