Spezia leaves San Siro without points, but with their heads held high; at the final whistle, coach Luca Gotti comments on the performance of his boys:
"I'm sorry for the goal in the end, but I'm very happy with the spirit my team had tonight. With this attitude the points will come, I am sure. There are two games left to the break, two close races that will have to be interpreted to the fullest.
I saw a team that is going in the right direction, in terms of spirit, attitude and technical quality. We must keep our attention high and we will take away satisfaction.
In the first ten minutes we disconnected too much, because we were going to press very high. Then gradually we began to arrange ourselves well in the field, with precision and compactness. We have always continued to play our game, that's what I'm particularly satisfied with.
I didn't tell Maldini before that he would play from the first minute, to avoid that he had so many thoughts on his mind. I didn't want him to play the game before he even took the field. I really liked his performance, both for his attitude and for his reading of the situations he had on the pitch. Not to mention that his contribution in the offensive phase was decisive".
