Two days ahead of the home match against Modena, Aquilotto coach Luca D'Angelo shared his thoughts on his team’s current state: “The team played very well against Bari; sometimes, even after a great performance, you do not come away with the win. Against Brescia, our performance dropped slightly, though we still outperformed our opponent. What matters is that we approach every match with the right attitude. The result may not always favor us, but that mindset is essential.
There is definitely a lot we need to work on because we are far from perfect. However, what I find most encouraging is our consistent approach to each game, regardless of the opponent or venue.
We have a strong midfield lineup, including Degli Innocenti. He has been training well, and he is definitely in the mix. Like everyone else, he might start or come on during the match.
As for Kouda, he is very adaptable in offensive roles. He can play as a second forward or midfielder—he is versatile and can be fitted into different positions as needed.
I am very pleased with Candelari’s performance. For that particular game, I wanted a player with his specific qualities, and he delivered well. He is a unique player, hard to label tactically, but he is definitely an asset for us.
Even without Vignali and despite some injuries, we have a range of options on the wings. We have players who can step in, so I feel confident about our team.
Bertola is one yellow card away from suspension, but I do not see the need to make decisions based on that at this point in the season. It is likely he will eventually get booked again, but I am not focusing on that yet as we look to the matches ahead.
Back in the 2021-22 season, we started similarly strong and went on to finish third. Those are not bitter memories; with the league's 11th-highest payroll, we placed third and nearly secured promotion in the playoff final. That was Pisa’s best campaign in thirty years. From that experience, I learned that securing a top-two finish is the only way to guarantee promotion.
The same goes for Falcinelli as for Degli Innocenti: he trains with professionalism and dedication, so there is certainly room for him, whether from the start or as a substitute.
Any coach studies their opponents to find ways to counter them. If our rivals drop back to avoid our counterattacks, forcing our strikers to push higher, I am more than happy. We did not score against Bari, but that was only due to their goalkeeper’s saves and the woodwork, not a lack of chances. In many matches, we have created numerous scoring opportunities, and I believe my team can be dangerous not only from set pieces, though we are strong there, with great takers and powerful headers.
Modena is coming to the Picco. They are a solid team, so we will need to be on guard; it is going to be a tough game, as they all are in this league. The results show that every team is finding it challenging; just last round, we saw all draws except one win".
