Spezia Calcio announces that it has acquired the sporting services of Leonardo Sernicola on a temporary deal from US Cremonese.
Born in 1997 and a native of Civita Castellana, Sernicola took his first steps in professional football with Ternana, making his first-team debut on May 7, 2016. He then continued his career with Fondi and Matera, before joining Sassuolo, where he made his Serie A debut. In the 2019–20 season, Sernicola featured in Serie B for Virtus Entella and Ascoli, while the following year he was among the standout performers for SPAL in the second division.
His return to Serie A came at the end of the 2021–22 season, when he played a key role in Cremonese’s historic promotion to the top flight. With the Grigiorossi, he made 32 Serie A appearances, also contributing two goals and two assists. After another full season in Serie B with Cremonese, last season he featured for the Lombardy side until January before moving to Pisa, where he secured another promotion to Serie A, recording 13 appearances and one goal in the Nerazzurri shirt.
A versatile wide player capable of operating effectively on both flanks, Sernicola will wear the number 17 shirt at Spezia and will be at Head Coach Donadoni’s disposal starting from tomorrow’s training session.
Welcome, Leonardo!
