Spezia Calcio announces that it has acquired the sporting services of defender Giovanni Bonfanti on a temporary basis from Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio.
Born in 2003, he grew up in the youth teams of Atalanta and Sampdoria, making his professional debut in Pontedera, in Serie C, with a total of 21 appearances in the 2022/2023 season. After moving to Atalanta Under 23 in the summer of 2023, the youngster had an excellent season, making 23 appearances. His excellent performance attracted the attention of the first team, coached by Gasperini, who gave him his Serie A debut in a home game against Napoli and in the Europa League (a competition won by Dea) in an away game against Raków Częstochowa, a match in which he was also among the scorers.
Loaned to Pisa the following season, he made 22 appearances in Serie B and actively contributed to the Nerazzurri's promotion to the top flight. In the current season, once again with Pisa, he has made nine appearances in Serie A. A member of the Italian national team since his early years, the defender also boasts four appearances for the Under-20s and four for the Under-21s.
A versatile defender, gifted with physicality and technique, Bonfanti is ready to contribute to the Aquilotti cause, wearing the number 94 jersey.
