On the eve of the match against Latina, coach Marco Turati speaks:
“It was a week that began with a particular enthusiasm, stemming from a very nice win for us and for the whole city. We worked very well, even though there was little time to prepare for Latina, but I am confident and we are ready to take the field once again.
We have a few absences: Zilli got hurt against Ravenna and gritted his teeth until halftime; then we have Mazzocchi, who is not yet at 100%, so we will decide tomorrow whether to risk him or not. But I am calm because we are well covered in that department: we have a lad like Di Serio, who has great qualities, but who obviously requires us to change something to make the most of his characteristics. Then there is Cazzadori, who has always played as a striker, and also Fontanarosa, a young lad who can give us a big hand. We also have the option of changing things up if necessary, so there is no shortage of alternatives.
In this championship nothing is taken for granted and every team can struggle on any pitch. The battle is always there, and Latina is precisely the team that wins the most duels in our group. They are very tough and always put opponents in difficulty, as they did against Reggiana and Ravenna. They also have forwards who can tip the balance in this match, so we will have to take the field aware of how difficult the game is, giving, as always, everything we have.
Every day we assess the lads’ form, and even if in these first weeks Bright and Capomaggio have had more playing time, it doesn’t mean they aren’t part of our analysis too. Now we have three matches in quick succession; we will make the best choices and try to give everyone a chance, because we can count on a group that never holds back, in training as in matches.
Bastoni? Like Zilli, he had a muscle injury and I don’t want to risk him yet. From Monday he will return to full training with us, then we will assess whether to take him already for the Livorno game.
The members of our team must be able to adapt to the characteristics of whoever we field up front. Cazzadori is certainly more similar to the strikers we have used so far, but we also have to make evaluations regarding the offensive wingers, and this applies to the upcoming matches in quick succession.
The defensive phase is working very well, but we must keep improving every day, because our opponents will also study us, improve and try to become more and more dangerous. For now, I can only thank and appreciate the defensive work of the whole team, the focus of a very young defensive line led by an experienced goalkeeper like Micai.
Lapses in concentration? I am very strict. I think we will have few lapses, and if they happen, I know how to intervene. I know that if my lads approach tomorrow’s match with their usual attitude, they can do very well, but I know just as well that the opponent we will face will do everything to trouble us.
Cannavò? He is growing day by day. In Ravenna I would have liked to guarantee him playing time, but the match developed in a way that led me to make other choices. Between tomorrow and Wednesday, I am sure he will be able to give us a big hand.
Di Serio? The striker’s role is a special one. You live on emotions and on the team’s work, and I think he needed to breathe some serenity and be part of the group, so I have great faith in him. I am sure that if he is called upon, he will put in a great performance and help his teammates.”
