Another win for the lads of Mister Marco Turati, who spoke as follows at the end of the match at Ravenna:
“I thank the team, who played a tough, physical game that often went outside our usual patterns, but who always found us ready for the fight against a very strong side. We arrived here with the right attitude and we go home really happy to have taken three truly important points.
We allowed a strong team like Ravenna to disrupt the game often and make use of the physical impact that is an important quality for them. We could have managed better and kept the ball more, making better use of some chances. At half-time I showed the lads where the openings could be, and Jimenez’s goal came from one of them. We could have done better in several situations, but in the end we take home the full points, showing great willingness to sacrifice.
Zilli? He suffered a minor muscle injury and held on until half-time so as not to waste a substitution slot, so I thank him for that too.
Jimenez? In the second half we had superiority between the lines and Jimenez was able to make a big impact. We know him well, we know his characteristics, and today he came on well, with the right attitude, but I know he can do even more because he’s really improving and has worked very hard in recent weeks. So I’m happy, because he deserved a moment of joy like that.
I see the weak points, but I’m keeping them to myself. We still have a lot to improve, but given our characteristics and the work we do every day, I know we could have managed the match better. At the end of the game I congratulated my lads, but I told them we can still grow a lot, because when you face opponents like Ravenna you must never take anything for granted or settle, but rather try to bring something extra.
In the second half we didn’t close the game out through our own fault, because we were neither ruthless nor good enough in the final choice. In Cancellieri’s chance, for example, I got very angry, because he knows me very well and in that moment only the final pass was missing. He apologized straight away, but in the end he would have deserved the goal because he has suffered a lot in this period, and coming on with fifteen minutes to go in a match like this wasn’t easy.”
