Turati: "Reggiana the strongest so far, but in the second half we took charge"

At the end of the match in Reggio Emilia, the seventh consecutive league win, coach Marco Turati spoke to the press as follows:

"I want to stress the strength and physical impact Reggiana had in the first half; they were very dynamic, had plenty of energy, and you could see their hunger and desire to play a great game. They are definitely the strongest team we have faced so far. In the first half we perhaps lacked the courage that sets us apart, also thanks to our opponents, while in the second half we took charge, showing our qualities, and I am very satisfied.

When I am told that my team has great mental strength and always stays in the game, it is a source of great pride for me; even today we never came apart and always tried to bring our characteristics into the match. We have many young players and they have all understood what it takes to play wearing this shirt: you know it, the 'Spezia eyes' must never be missing.

I am very happy with what all the lads who played did; the defense is often praised when we don't concede, but it is the whole team block that makes the difference when we don't concede, starting with the forwards, who today worked very hard, perhaps sacrificing something in terms of quality.

Over these matchdays we have improved a lot in individual duels, and I must say that the two center-backs, who come from two relegations, are working very hard and improving game after game.

In the first half today we had an obligation to do better; in midfield we pushed, but without bringing in the quality that has distinguished us in previous games, while after the interval we improved in that respect and were much more dangerous.

Our idea was to build a young team that could grow over time and entertain our fans: since the summer we have pushed hard to make my players understand the value of the shirt, and I continue to urge them to improve both individually and collectively. We don't want the standings to be a distraction for our growth.

We had considered substituting Capolupo, who is a 2006 in his first year among the professionals and still has to improve in game management, even though he has really important qualities, but we didn't do it because we would have had to bring on another center-back, making the game messy too early; this sending-off will serve mainly him, because while he is out he will have time to understand what he did wrong and what he needs to improve to be more careful.

Micai? He is one of our leaders, who can allow himself the freedom to risk a few more plays. We are very satisfied with him because in these first weeks he has given us a great deal."
