This late afternoon, "The White Road" was presented, the historical path created by Spezia Calcio with the support and patronage of the Municipality of La Spezia, to celebrate the Club's 120 years, which fall on Saturday, October 10.
A long journey made of passion and sacrifice, victories and falls, starting in 1906 and arriving at the present day, now summarized in the texts and images chosen by Emanuele Martera's Tub Design, with research and collaboration by Armando Napoletano and Paolo Peveri, who together with the Club's Press Office created an area entirely dedicated to the protagonists of Spezia's first 120 years.
Presidents, coaches and symbol players chase one another among the most iconic images in the history of the Club and the city stadium, to which an entire section is dedicated, underlining the many changes that the Viale Fieschi ground has undergone over time.
Along the path there is also room for shirts from every era, authentic rare and precious relics, lent by eight Spezia collectors: Matteo Bancalari, Luca De Fonte, Gian Luigi Lungo, Marco Mozzachiodi, Gian Matteo Orlandi, Nicolò Orsini, Filippo Repetto and Simone Rutigliano.
Finally, the trophies won by the Aquile over their history are now proudly on display for the people of Spezia. The exceptions are the 1944 Cup, whose replica is already kept in the stand named after the Fire Brigade Italian Champions, and the Mattei Cup, which was lost.
"We all know what Spezia Calcio represents in our lives: it is our faith, a story handed down from father to son," began Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini, who went on to speak about the 1944 scudetto and about dreams, those fulfilled and those still to be fulfilled by a team that is an expression of the whole territory, whose history and fortunes are inextricably intertwined.
Next came the words of Aquile vice president Andrea Corradino: "On October 10, 1906, the first nucleus of what would become Spezia was born, in a city that already had 75,000 inhabitants and played a prominent role. We were among the first football clubs, and these 120 years tell of a shared identity between city and team, a love that merges the one into the other. To celebrate this anniversary worthily we created the historical path we are here to inaugurate, an album of family memories that now becomes everyone's heritage. And the people's response shows that these 120 years have been one continuous love."
Then came the speech by CEO Nicolò Peri, who brought greetings from the Aquile ownership and thanked everyone who worked over the years on conceiving and then building the historical path, starting with Communications Manager Gianluca Parenti and Emanuele Martera of Tub Design, who in turn explained the choices behind the construction of the path and its purposes. Parenti thanked the collectors who lent the 30 shirts that enrich the path and recalled that "there can be no future without knowing one's past."
Closing, before the ribbon-cutting by President Stillitano and Mayor Peracchini, were the words of Spezia's Marketing Manager, Marco Mancinelli, who unveiled the celebratory kit in which the Aquile will take the field on Saturday, October 10 and thanked all of the club's partners.
Finally, Spezia Calcio wishes to thank Neon Ares, S.EL, Studio Sgrò and La Lince for their availability and valuable collaboration.
