After last year’s great success, "Scuole al Picco" returns for this season as well. This flagship initiative of Spezia Calcio sees the club from Via Melara opening its stadium doors to welcome primary and secondary school students from the local area. Supported by the Municipality of La Spezia, the first event of the season featured students from the Baccano and Romito primary schools, along with members of the Youth Council of Arcola, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Gianluca Tinfena.
This edition took on a whole new dimension, coinciding with the recent inauguration of the Tribuna "Campioni del 1944". The young participants enjoyed a 360-degree experience inside the Eagles’ nest, immersed in history, tradition, and pure fun.
This year’s program is enriched by several new activities, particularly in the brand-new hospitality area. Highlights included a historical module by ANED (National Association of Former Deportees in Nazi Camps), offering deeper context on the unforgettable achievements of the 1944 Champions and then-club president Coriolano Perioli. Students also heard captivating insights from Federico La Valle, Spezia’s historic stadium announcer, who shared the significance of the iconic white jersey and delved into the history of the club’s passionate fan base, recounting characters and anecdotes that reflect the pride of standing by the team day in and day out.
An iconic moment of Scuole al Picco is the highly anticipated trivia quiz on the club’s history, hosted by the aquilotto announcer, this engaging competition challenges students on both the recent and distant past of Spezia Calcio.
A stadium tour is another unmissable part of the event, taking students to the most exclusive areas of the facility. From the locker rooms to the players’ tunnel, children had the chance to step into their heroes’ shoes, pretending to be footballers about to set foot on the Picco pitch. The tour also included the media areas, from the press conference room to the journalist workspaces, and culminated in a visit to the press box atop the Campioni del 1944 Stand.
Concluding a morning rich in history, community, and sports, the event featured a ceremonial walk onto the pitch to the sound of the club anthem Non siete soli. This was followed by a snack break in the field boxes and a penalty shootout on the field, leaving every participant with an unforgettable memory of this unique experience.
