Spezia Calcio expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Gianni Zennaro, who wore the Aquilotti shirt from 1951 to 1965 and ranks third all-time in appearances in the white jersey, with 387 matches.
A historic captain of the Aquilotti and a native of Venice, Zennaro arrived in the Gulf of Poets at just eighteen years old, making his debut in white in Rapallo–Spezia on October 7, 1951. A reliable and tenacious defender who perfectly embodied the values of the white shirt, Zennaro earned promotion to the IV Serie, promotion to Serie C, and won the Coppa d’Oro Mattei during his more than decade-long career with the Eagles. Just last year, he was inducted into the Spezia Calcio Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements.
