At the "Alberto Picco" Stadium press room this morning, CEO Andrea Gazzoli, Head of the Youth Academy Giuseppe Vecchio, and the Main Sponsor of the youth and women's sectors, Immobiliare Massari, represented by Alessandra Massari, introduced the project for the creation of Spezia Calcio's first women's team.
"We are here following a great day of sports", Andrea Gazzoli began, "and I want to start from this point because I believe there's a connection between the two events. Yesterday, we witnessed the strength of our community and the warmth our fans gave us once again. What we are presenting today is another step towards the community, in every sense. What we experienced yesterday, following the two matches we've already had at the Picco this season, is something truly unique and valuable, enriching our community".
"I must thank Beppe Vecchio, because projects stem from ideas and a sense of belonging. This initiative not only has a sporting aspect, but as I mentioned, it's aimed at fostering social engagement and unity. It will allow our girls to complete their growth journey, reaching the First Team and achieving their dream of wearing the Spezia Calcio jersey. That is what makes us most proud".
"We have been working hard in this direction, and through numerous projects and initiatives coordinated by the Communication Department and the entire staff, we aim to reestablish a close relationship with the region we represent. Sharing ideas, projects and activities, always with the well-being of Spezia Calcio in mind, which we are honored to represent both in Italy and around the world".
"In addition to ideas, projects need to be implemented and, in this regard, Alessandra Massari has been instrumental. We thank her immensely for the enthusiasm and passion she has shown from the very beginning".
Giuseppe Vecchio then took the floor: "I also want to start by thanking CEO Gazzoli, Immobiliare Massari, and the entire Spezia Calcio family. I especially want to thank President Platek, who was enthusiastic about this project from the start, a project we all deeply cared about".
"Our girls previously didn't have a clear path within the Club, and as they reached a certain age, they found their development stalling within Spezia Calcio, where many had been playing since childhood. Today, we are happy to say that this journey now has a defined endpoint, allowing them the privilege and pride of representing Spezia across Liguria by competing in all the fields of the Eccellenza Ligure Women's Championship".
"As we reach the tenth anniversary of our women's sector, it was necessary and appropriate to take this final step, and we are proud to be here today discussing it".
"The Women's First Team will follow the same path as our Youth Academy. What matters most to us is the development and growth of each individual player. The same approach will apply to the Women's First Team: our focus will primarily be on individual player development, not just results. What matters to us is providing our girls the opportunity to wear the Spezia jersey, which is our greatest achievement. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging, which is the DNA of this Club. And while we will not shy away from improving our results if we have the resources and skills to do so, at this stage, our main priority is contributing to the Club’s overall sense of belonging to the white jersey that we all love".
Finally, Alessandra Massari added: "I am very proud of the launch of this project, which we embraced from day one. Today, we at Immobiliare feel a strong sense of emotion in sponsoring a Women's First Team, especially since my entire staff is made up of women. Moreover, there is a deep alignment with our values, as this is a project that socially engages our community".
"The values of sports align closely with those of our agency: teamwork, collaboration, and working toward shared goals. These connections inspire us to do even better".
"I am proud to be a part of such an ambitious project. The focus is on the future, not just the immediate results. Giving the girls in our Youth Academy the chance to complete their journey fills us with great pride, and today, we are here to celebrate it".
Finally, Club CEO Andrea Gazzoli concluded: "The ownership has embraced this initiative with great enthusiasm, especially because in the U.S., this kind of project is much further along. The development of the Youth Academy as a whole will require many steps and take time to grow, but today we are starting, and that is what matters most".
