Spezia Calcio and Kappa® present the celebratory kit for the 120th anniversary of the Club's history, which the Aquile will wear on Saturday, October 10 against Gubbio, on the exact day in 1906 when Spezia Football Club was born.
After the Home, Away and Third kits, the 120th anniversary kit does not look to the present, but to the origins, bringing back onto the pitch the beginning of it all.
White, the eternal identity of Spezia Calcio, meets sugar-paper blue, a reference to the light-blue kits worn by Spezia before the Club definitively adopted its club colors. The white-black-black scheme in fact arrived in 1911, in honor of Pro Vercelli, at the time one of the big names in Italian football. Two colors that tell the two souls of our history, brought together today in a single shirt.
Dividing them is a four-quarter design, inspired by the iconic patterns of football kits between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The inspiration also has its roots in the story of the origins. Interviewed by Spezia journalist Armando Napoletano, the daughter of Herman Hurni, founder of Spezia, recounted that her father had brought from England a first set of Crystal Palace shirts, the club with which he had played in the reserve team. Until 1905, according to historians, Palace wore white and blue shirts, in a shade probably closer to light blue: a suggestion that adds further romance to the birth of Spezia.
Over the heart, finally, everything returns to the beginning: SFC, Spezia Football Club, one of the oldest and most symbolic logos in the history of the Spezia club.
On this occasion too, albeit in a different position, the Club wanted to keep the 1944 Scudetto, a perpetual tribute to the legendary feat of the Spezia Fire Brigade, to preserve one of the most iconic and important chapters of its history.
The nod to the origins continues in the details. The Korean collar with laces evokes the kits of the early twentieth century, while on the back the embroidery "SPEZIA 120 ANNI" seals a unique milestone for the Club and its people. Made on the basis of the KOMBAT™ 2026 match shirt, the kit is in recycled textured fabric with HYDRO-WAY PROTECTION technology, in regular fit.
Inside the collar, of course, is a tribute to Paolo Ponzo, one of the most beloved figures in the Club's history, who with his example embodied the values of all the players who gave everything for the white shirt. His famous words are: "Every player who wears this shirt must feel, on the one hand, honored, and on the other, strongly responsible for what it represents," taken from the book "Santa Domenica" by A. Napoletano.
The celebratory kit, in a limited run of 700 unique pieces, will be available from this evening at the Spezia Store and at store.speziacalcio.com.
Spezia Calcio thanks its shirt partners, Segnoverde, Dani Shipping and Iozzelli, for their availability and sensitivity in supporting the Club's historical choice not to display any commercial logo on the kit.
