This morning saw another exciting instalment of ‘Scuole al Picco’, the project dedicated to schools in the La Spezia area, centred around an unmissable tour of the refurbished ‘Alberto Picco’ stadium. Today’s guests were pupils from the ‘Dante Alighieri’ lower secondary school in Aulla, specifically two Year 9 classes.
At the heart of the project, which sees the club on Via Melara open the doors of its stadium to young pupils, is the desire to educate the younger generation by promoting a positive sporting culture, highlighting values such as passion, loyalty, respect, enjoyment and teamwork.
Through a journey of discovery into the world of the Eagles, various topics linked to the past and present of Spezia Calcio were explored, including accounts from the club’s historic commentator Federico La Valle, touching on the history of support on the shores of the Gulf of Poets, with its characters and anecdotes, characterised by the great pride of standing by their city’s team day in, day out. But that’s not all, because this special event also featured a talk by Gugliemo Bertani of ANED, the National Association of Former Deportees to Nazi Camps, who told the young people about the incredible feats of the 1944 Champions and their historic league title.
