Late this morning, Spezia Calcio Vice President Paul Francis and CEO Andrea Gazzoli, along with board member Federico Mari and club executive Nicolò Peri, welcomed Giacomo Raul Giampedrone, Regione Liguria Councillor for Infrastructure.
“I am very pleased to have met Councillor Giampedrone today and would like to thank Regione Liguria for the significant support it has provided to Spezia Calcio over the years,” said FC32 Founder Paul Francis. “Synergy with institutions is crucial for a club like ours, which carries the responsibility of representing the wonderful Spezia region and its people, both in Italy and around the world.
“It was a very positive initial meeting,” stated Councillor Giampedrone. “I had the opportunity to officially welcome the new ownership on behalf of President Marco Bucci. I am confident that, within our respective roles, we will continue the collaboration that has already been established, which was fundamental to the regional investment of €3.8 million, made alongside the Platek family and the Municipality, for the modernization of the Picco Stadium. Thanks to this cutting-edge infrastructure, the venue is now fully equipped to host Serie A matches, serving as a valuable asset for the city and its supporters. In addition, the Region has allocated over €2 million for a hydrogeological safety project in the municipality of Follo. Once completed, this could pave the way for Spezia Calcio to develop a sports complex on the site granted for training activities".
