LA SPEZIA - After a solid opening match victory against Ternana, Coach Terzi’s boys delivered another strong performance at the Ferdeghini against Napoli, remaining atop the standings with a perfect score thanks to goals from Franchetti Rosada and Di Giorgio.
The Aquilotti approached the match with the right attitude against a well-organized Napoli. The first half passed without goals, leading to an exciting second half. Franchetti Rosada broke the deadlock for Spezia in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a well-constructed play down the right wing. Nicolai’s cross found Franchetti Rosada, who skillfully controlled the ball in the box and fired a left-footed shot past Sorrentino.
However, Napoli responded swiftly, equalizing in the 68th minute when Malasomma found the net with a precise diagonal shot following a strong solo run from the left.
Yet Spezia is a team that never backs down, and as in the opening match, they struck late again. Di Giorgio received a 50-meter pass from Bertoncini, surprising the Napoli defense and scoring with a left-footed shot in the 83rd minute, much to the delight of the home crowd at the "Ferdeghini".
"I am very pleased with the performance, even more so with the result, because we delivered a truly important display against a strong team like Napoli, who possesses both physicality and quality," stated a satisfied Claudio Terzi after the match. "We executed everything we had prepared throughout the week, both offensively and defensively, and we grew into the game in the second half. I also commend the substitutes who, just as against Ternana, quickly integrated into the match and made significant contributions to secure the victory. I reminded the players before the match: it doesn't matter how much time one has; what counts is giving your all for the team. Sometimes, just one minute can be decisive. However, we must keep our feet firmly on the ground, as we face a tough away trip to Ascoli next Saturday against another strong team that will certainly fight for a playoff spot. Therefore, we need to continue with the work we’ve done so far, maintaining concentration, determination, and humility. Of course, let’s enjoy this victory, but come Monday, we need to get back to work with the right mindset, committed to sustaining the same attitude we've shown thus far, both from those who have played more and those who have played less. There will be opportunities for everyone this season; the most important thing is to be ready when the moment comes".
