Match Report - Home victory for Terzi's side, as they edge past their Crotone counterparts.
Coach Terzi lined up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation, while Crotone opted for a 5-3-1-1.
The first half saw both teams feeling each other out, with few real chances. The best opportunity came five minutes before the break when Franchetti fired a diagonal shot from inside the box, only to be denied by the opposing goalkeeper.
In the second half, Spezia took control, and ten minutes in, Ferrazza made a strong run down the left, beating two defenders before delivering a ball into the box for Fontanarosa, who slotted home the winning goal.
Later in the match, Ferrazza struck the post, while a superb save from Crotone's goalkeeper denied Brio a goal.
Towards the end, Insignito was sent off, and Leonardo pulled off a remarkable save to preserve the victory.
Coach Claudio Terzi's post-match comments: "We put in an excellent performance at a difficult time. We were coming off some underwhelming displays and results, but today the team gave everything they had. It was a great performance, we suffered when we had to and attacked when the moment was right. We won 1-0, but we had plenty of chances even before the goal, and that's our only regret: we could have been more clinical and killed off the game earlier, avoiding the risk of jeopardizing the result in the final minutes when we went down to ten men.
Every single player, whether they started, came off the bench, or didn't play, put in a strong performance, showing unity and teamwork. They knew when to get stuck in, and we're happy to have delivered this display and secured the win for the new owner, who was in the stands watching. Full credit to the boys, they stepped up in a difficult period and put in a truly outstanding performance in every aspect. What stood out the most was their team spirit throughout the 90 minutes, their ability to dig in during the tough moments, and their compact work off the ball before striking at the right time. We were up against a strong side that made significant reinforcements in January, so it wasn’t an easy win.
The whole team was fantastic, and I hope this victory, after three consecutive defeats, brings us enthusiasm and consistency both in performances and results, crucial elements as we head into our next away match against Cosenza. Now, we’ll rest up and, starting Monday, get back to work to prepare as best as possible for our trip to Calabria".
