Match Report: Another strong victory for Terzi’s Aquilotti, as Spezia beat Benevento 3-1 at the Ferdeghini.
Spezia started the match at a high tempo, taking a 2-0 lead within the first ten minutes: Marchini opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, assisted by Insignito, and four minutes later Lontani doubled the lead, capitalizing on a perfect pass from Conte.
In the second half, the pace slowed slightly, and the visitors pulled one back through Giugliano. However, Terzi’s team remained compact, controlled the game with focus, and secured the 3-1 win thanks to a brilliant solo effort from Insignito.
Coach Terzi’s post-match comments: "We played a great match and delivered an excellent performance. As I told the players before the game, I was confident because we had our best training week since the season started. I see all the players engaged and committed, and I was sure both starters and substitutes would perform well.
Unfortunately, I can only field 16 players, 11 starters and 5 substitutes, but I’m convinced the others would have done equally well. Everyone will get their chance because it’s a group that works hard, and it’s a pleasure to coach them.
We started very strongly, going 2-0 up immediately. We applied our game plan effectively against a well-organized team with high-quality players. Even after conceding a direct free-kick goal, we managed to score the third, close out the game, and even had a few more chances to extend the lead, though Benevento’s quality always posed a threat.
If we keep up this intensity, I’m confident we’ll continue to perform at this level. In these first three matchdays, we faced three tough opponents, so six points is a good return. Next up is another home game against Bari, where we’ll aim to secure as many points as possible".
