Spezia claimed an away win in Monopoli to move provisionally into second place in the standings on 41 points, securing their third consecutive league victory. At the end of the match, head coach Claudio Terzi commented on his team’s performance: “We delivered a strong performance, especially in the first half, when we played with great personality in their half without conceding anything and made the most of our set-piece opportunities, something we had worked on a lot. To be honest, based on the chances we created, we could have gone into the break with a bigger lead, but I’m really very pleased with our first-half display.
In the second half the match was more balanced, partly because the wind had an impact on the game, but the team did well to stay compact and allow very little. Not only that, we also created chances to put the match beyond doubt.
I congratulate the boys, also for how we approached this game, because during the week, due to the Viareggio Tournament commitments, we hardly trained with the full squad. Despite that, the team showed maturity and great focus in preparing for the match, so I’m proud of this group.
Now we’ll take a day off and from Monday we’ll start preparing for the game against Crotone, another important match that we’ll need to approach with the same attitude".
