Match Report - The Aquilotti, under Coach Terzi, faced one of the championship favorites and suffered a 2-1 defeat after a hard-fought match. Piccioli and his teammates played well and certainly deserved a positive result, especially considering the amount of play and chances created in the second half.
The first half was balanced, with Schietroma finding an incredible goal in the 30th minute, unleashing an unstoppable right-footed shot that found the back of the net in the top corner. The Aquilotti tried to respond immediately, but the chances created by Coach Terzi's team did not yield the desired result. However, the equalizer came in the 3rd minute of the second half, when, following a lateral free kick won by Tognini and taken by Ferrazza, Bertoncini was quickest to head the ball into the net.
The Aquilotti continued to press throughout the second half, pinning the Ciociara formation in their own half. Yet, the home team, during their only offensive sortie, was rewarded by fortune with Piras's own goal, a result of a miscommunication with Aquilotto goalkeeper Leonardo during a central action by the yellow-blue team, which restored the home side's lead. The players coached by Terzi tried to respond immediately, and in the 40th minute, they protested for a foul on Brio in the Ciociara box, which the referee did not call, and the match ended 2-1.
At the end of the match, Coach Claudio Terzi stated: "A remarkable performance from the boys, especially considering the opponent we faced. This was perhaps the best performance of the season, and we certainly deserved to leave the field with at least a positive result.
In a balanced first half, the score was opened by an incredible goal from their striker, who sent the ball into the top corner, but we created numerous chances in the first 45 minutes to end on level terms, although we couldn’t find the back of the net. The second half makes it truly difficult to explain the final score because when you dominate play on the home turf of the league leader and only concede an unfortunate own goal that turns out to be decisive, on one hand, you can only feel proud of your boys’ efforts, but on the other, it leaves a bitter taste since a draw today would have been deserved. I am proud of my boys; they put their hearts into the game as I asked, and if we continue to deliver performances like this, this team will achieve great satisfaction—I am sure of it. So let’s keep pushing forward, working with enthusiasm and determination to grow day by day".
