Two Spezia players have been called up to their respective national teams during the league break this weekend.
They are Spezia captain Petko Hristov, who was called up by Bulgaria and took to the pitch yesterday in the match against Indonesia – a game Bulgaria won 1-0, which was one of two fixtures in the 2026 FIFA Series. The Spezia captain played the full 90 minutes. In the previous match, however, which Bulgaria won against the Solomon Islands, the Aquile defender did not feature.
The second Spezia player called up to the national team is Christian Comotto, selected for the Italian Under-19s and who featured in both of Italy’s matches. In the first, against Hungary, he came on in the 60th minute and scored the goal that sealed the 3-0 victory. In the second match, however, the midfielder played the full 90 minutes, playing a key role in the 3-0 victory over Slovakia. Italy will take to the pitch again today, against Turkey, in their third scheduled fixture of the Under-19 European Championship qualifiers, which currently sees the Azzurri top the group with a perfect record.
