I have a very strong bond with him that goes beyond soccer, but the whole team really wanted to celebrate, and we’re happy we did, dedicating the victory to Aldo.
Every game is different; it has its own challenges. At first, they did a good job of staying compact, and we did well to remain patient. In the second half, we managed to break the deadlock and then play effectively. Obviously, we need to try to do that throughout the entire game, not just at certain moments.
Wins help us train well during the week; of course, we have to be careful not to just focus on the glamour but to understand where we need to improve—especially since the games are coming thick and fast. Every match is different, and we must always try to stay focused and work on getting better.
I’m the first one trying to figure out how to improve every day; I think it’s extremely important—both as an individual and as a team—to strive for growth and never settle.
Personally, I try to help my teammates. Wearing the captain’s armband is a privilege, but it’s my daily attitude that should set an example for everyone. Of course, on the field, I always try to help my teammates by giving the guidance that’s most useful in that moment, because there are so many different moments in a game.”
