Another excellent performance for Aleš Mateju, who spoke to the press at the end of the match at the Picco:
“We put in a great performance, but first and foremost the three points are what matter, and we’re happy about that. We have to stay focused and stay humble, aware that the road is long and every game will be harder than the last. Everyone will try to give a little extra against us, and already from the next one we have a truly intense match ahead: let’s stay focused.
We try to put into practice what the coach asks, and I always try to give my best to help my teammates and win games.
After last season it was difficult. My idea was always to stay here. That’s why I turned down many offers, and when we reached an agreement with the Sporting Director at the end of the transfer window, I was very happy.
I’m very happy about the applause. Last year everything went wrong. It was a year of suffering, especially mental. I’m delighted to be here, and now I feel happiness around us, and inside me too I’ve found that happiness I’d been missing for so long, because last year had drained me of so much happiness.
The team has changed almost entirely, and so have the coach and the management. Many young lads have arrived with a desire to improve, there’s great hunger and attention, and I see everyone training at full intensity: all the ingredients to do well are there.”
