At the end of the second match of the season against Follo, coach Marco Turati had this to say: "First of all, I want to thank Follo for their cooperation and for giving us the chance to train together. The players did a great job and were careful to follow the instructions given—that’s the most important thing. Last time, I’d asked for a few more goals, and today we got them. Follo fielded a lot of young players in the second half, but scoring is never easy, and today I’m very happy with the improvement in that area as well.
When we have possession, we’re starting to see some really good things, and from my perspective, we’re also moving very well without the ball. However, I think we still need to improve a lot when we don’t have possession, especially in terms of our willingness to make sacrifices, because if we want to win the ball back immediately, we need to be much more reactive. The training workload is certainly taking its toll now, but it’s our mental approach in these situations that we need to improve if we want to grow.
We’re very satisfied with how this training camp is going so far; we haven’t had any problems to date. I see many young players who are eager to train and give their all in every session, and that’s truly important for a coach. Now we have a new week ahead of us where we’ll step up the intensity even more and push even harder to continue on our path of growth.
Today I saw the wingers performing much better than in our first session, and I think that creating the conditions for them to enjoy themselves and produce assists and shots on goal is important for our style of play and for the whole team.
Florenzi and Mazzocchi? I’m very happy, because they’re strong players and extraordinary guys on a personal level as well, and I’m truly glad to have them with us these days; I believe it will be very easy to integrate them into our group.”
