Among the new summer signings for Spezia’s midfield, Aldo Florenzi spoke from the Eagles’ summer training camp: “I felt right at home with the group right from the start—it’s made up of some really talented guys—and we’ve been working really well together, so it’s definitely been a positive start.
Spezia is a very important club, and I was truly delighted to be called up. Plus, the fact that I’m embarking on this new adventure alongside Cannavò and Mazzocchi—who I already played with in Cosenza—certainly makes settling in much easier, and it’s great to be able to play with them again.
Up until now, I’ve only lived in Cosenza as a professional, and that’s where I experienced everything for the first time; leaving what had become my home certainly wasn’t easy, and I can only thank all the people who’ve supported me on my journey of growth.
The captain’s armband? I’ve worn it on more than one occasion, but I think a locker room needs various leaders, not just the one wearing the armband; over the course of a season, there are various moments, and we need more people who have the ability to handle them and help the team.
I’m a midfielder who likes to run, help my teammates in both phases of play, and have the ball at my feet. Physicality certainly isn’t my strongest trait, but I think I’m a very selfless player who’s always ready to help and make sacrifices.
Last year was my first season in Serie C, and I found there were major differences compared to Serie B—in particular, there was much more of a battle, much more competitiveness, and many more one-on-one duels. So this year, we’ll need to stay focused at all times, fight hard, and run for every ball, leaving nothing to chance.
A message for the fans? We’re hoping to see a huge crowd at the stadium, and I can’t wait to play at the “Picco.”
The Spezia anthem? I already knew it before I arrived, because it always stuck in my head whenever we played against them.”
