Great satisfaction at Spezia Calcio for the debut at the U17 European Championship in Budapest of the Aquilotto goalkeeper Diego Mascardi, called up to the competition as a replacement for the injured Francesco Plaia and lined up as a starter by head coach Bernardo Corradi in the last commitment of the round against Slovenia.
In a match that ended 3-0 for the Azzurri and that saw the young Aquilotto goalkeeper defending the posts of the National team for the entire duration of the match with personality and application and that therefore allowed Mascardi to reach a very prestigious goal: that of making his debut in the final phase of a European Championship.
Azzurri who, however, despite today's victory, close the round in third place with three points, after defeats in the first two matches against Spain and Serbia, thus forcing Italy to be eliminated at the group stage. In spite of the disappointment for the outcome of the European Championship, for the Aquilotto Diego Mascardi, however, remains the great emotion of having worn the Azzurri jersey in a match of such fundamental importance as today's, which kept the hopes of coach Corradi's boys for a possible passage to the round alight. Acceding instead to the Quarterfinals are Spain and Serbia.
