Speaking from Val Gardena, Salvatore Elia, one of last season’s standout performers, shared his thoughts with the Club’s media team: “I’m feeling great and really satisfied with the work we’re doing. The group is in a good place, and we’re happy with how the match against Lecce went, especially considering how tough it is to give your all during this period when the training sessions are intense.
Playing for the Aquile is a special feeling, especially now that I truly feel at home. This place has found a special place in my heart, and I couldn’t be happier about that.
My role in the 3-5-2? Coach D’Angelo expects a lot from us wingbacks in both phases of play. We have to execute both with the right mindset, and I know there’s still room for me to grow, especially on the defensive side.
Getting in sync with the new guys? That’s going really well. We’ve got a great group here, and we always do our best to make the new players feel part of the team. I’m glad about that.
Improving defensively? Over the past two years, I’ve come a long way. I feel like I’m really starting to fine-tune the little details needed to keep getting better in Serie B, so I’m pleased with the progress.
I was proud to hear that my jersey was the fifth best-selling last season. That kind of news really means a lot, it’s a unique feeling. It makes all the hard work during the week and over the course of the year worth it, and it reminds us that we play not just for ourselves, but for our fans too.
Our mindset has to stay the same, the same one that took us so far last year. It’s important that the new players and the younger guys understand right away that the team always comes first. If we stick together like we did last season, good things can happen.
The transfer market? I never asked to leave. What happened was just part of the usual market dynamics, and I can honestly say I’m really happy to still be here at Spezia".
