After the match at the “Druso,” coach Luca D’Angelo spoke to the press: “Südtirol played their game, but I think we deserved to win, given that we spent most of the match in their half and we created plenty of scrambles and opportunities, I have nothing to reproach my players for.
We could have been more precise and clinical, but several dangerous shots were blocked, so I can’t say the team didn’t give everything or that there’s much to fault them for.
Over the past two weeks, the flu hit us hard, and many players recovered just in time. But beyond that, I still believe we produced a huge amount of play, it’s just that right now, we’re struggling to convert chances.
We played with great spirit, reacting immediately after conceding on their first real chance. We created big opportunities in both halves, but unfortunately, the ball didn’t go in and we’re heading home with just a point.
We put in a lot of crosses and should have been more present in the box, though credit to Südtirol for defending those situations well.
Elia? We’re happy to have him back after his injury and we’ll work on increasing his playing time right away.
We also have to acknowledge the outstanding season we’re having. Let’s not forget where we started and the expectations last summer, yet here we are, still fighting for something important. There are plenty of games left, and we have to keep working as we always have, confident that things will start going our way again".
