Two days before the home match against Juve Stabia, Spezia's coach Luca D'Angelo spoke to the press ahead of his team's return to action: "The players are doing well, Kouda and Vignali have both recovered and are available, while, as we all know, we lost Sarr during the break. Chichizola? Given Sarr's injury, we wanted to maintain a high level of competition among all three goalkeepers, and we replaced Fallou with a strong and experienced goalkeeper. A player must always accept competition, and I think all three of our goalkeepers understand that well. So, the one who will play is the one who is in the best condition, but this doesn’t mean we’ll decide based on every match. A goalkeeper can change over a medium to long term, but it will be the field that will give me the right indications.
Our strikers always train very well, and all of them have opportunities to score, but now might be the right time to give more continuity. It’s not easy for a player to find certainty and rhythm, especially for a striker, so we’ll do our best to make the best decisions, considering these aspects as well.
The standings? We need to focus on playing at our best in every match, driven by the fans, without looking at other teams or making unnecessary calculations that only drain precious energy.
The transfer market? I’ve always said I don’t agree with the market being open while the league is ongoing. I’m aware that my opinion doesn’t matter much, and I have to adapt, but I believe it’s important to be honest and express what I think. On our side, we are fortunate not to have any open situations and to be able to make continuity our strength, as there will be no major changes in the market.
In the first half of the season, we performed very well, beyond even the most optimistic expectations, and only Stroppa had predicted such a season for us at the start. But now there’s a whole second half, and we need to continue on the path we’ve started.
