D'Angelo: "We have a desire to return to win at home"

D'Angelo: "We have a desire to return to win at home"

16 February 2024 - 14:29

On the eve of the home match against Cittadella, Aquilotto coach Luca D'Angelo spoke in the usual pre-match press conference: "In Terni we had a good hour, where the main difficulty was not being able to find the goal, which we deserved for the amount of play created. In the last 20 minutes the game was balanced, we suffered a bit, especially at the level of second balls, but after the disadvantage the team had the timeliness to recover the result: it is a very important point for morale, because we did not deserve to lose at all.
After the penalty we struggled, because the team got scared, in a game we were dominating. Ternana at the first opportunity earned the penalty and the boys from there on perceived the danger; however, we should have continued to play as we did previously, because the game could have been won. On the whole the defensive phase was done well, on some dirty balls we were not able to read the situation well, the field was very slippery, the ball was splashing very fast and also the fact that for an hour we had risked practically nothing perhaps made us think that we would not suffer for the whole match.

Hristov trained yesterday, the problem he has with his shoulder goes a lot on personal perception, so we will evaluate whether he will be able to recover in these last two days.
We know we have to get a result tomorrow, regardless of the fact that we are playing at home, which is undoubtedly an important factor. The fans will support us, as they always have, but tomorrow it will be up to us to be ready because we have a desire to return to winning at home.
We have a midfield that makes technique its best weapon: Esposito, Jagiello, Nagy and Bandinelli are players who attempt the play because they have important qualities. Very often they succeed, sometimes it happens that they make mistakes, but we will have to be good at making as few mistakes as possible and try to take the right countermeasures.
In attack now both Di Serio, Pio Esposito and Moro can play, they are all well and so tomorrow I will decide on the best possible formation.

In the first leg, in Cittadella, it was a balanced game until the final quarter of an hour, then certainly there was an ugly ending on our part. Tomorrow's match will be a physical one, because we face a team that makes intensity one of its best weapons, but then we should also be good tactically and technically, because if we make few mistakes we will know how to seriously put them in trouble. Not forgetting then the mental aspect, which will be crucial in games like these.
We right now are not so much playing vertically, in the last few matches our way of playing has changed, previously it was man on man and playing like that it is obvious that teams stretch. Now the team is short between the wards and therefore plays more of phrasing than depth; now, however, with the purchase of Di Serio we can also be more dangerous with attacking depth, which was a weapon we previously lacked. I think this is very important for us.
Elia is well, he has been training all week and has chances to play from the start. We will see what solution to adopt at the tactical level, whether to continue with the three or reintroduce the four-man defense, but I reserve the last few days to make the best decisions".
