Spezia Calcio is proud to announce its new partnership with Cooperativa Mitilicoltori Spezzini, which will serve as an Official Partner of the Via Melara Club for the 2026/2027 season. The company, now in its second year of collaboration, will continue to stand alongside the Eagles for another season.
The Cooperativa Mitilicoltori Spezzini is one of the most significant organizations in the Gulf of La Spezia, the guardian of a tradition that dates back to 1887—the year Italian mussel farming began in the very waters of the Gulf of Poets. Today, the cooperative brings together 62 members and over 45 vessels, coordinating a supply chain that combines experience, quality, and innovation in the production of mussels and oysters. Deeply rooted in the La Spezia region, the organization promotes and enhances a heritage that is at once economic, cultural, and identity-defining, helping to raise awareness in Italy and abroad of a product of excellence found exclusively in the waters of the Gulf of Poets.
Recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture as a Producers’ Organization, the La Spezia Mussel Farmers’ PO guarantees a short, controlled, and traceable supply chain, supporting its members in developing their production activities and investing in sustainability, research, and innovation. Each year, over 2 million kilograms of mussels and oysters are sold, bringing to the table a product that represents the authentic bond between the sea, human labor, and the local territory. Through their daily commitment, the mussel farmers help preserve one of La Spezia’s most iconic traditions, promoting a production model that looks to the future without losing touch with its history.
