Fresh off his debut in the Aquile jersey, Galo Capomaggio spoke to the La Spezia press: “My first impressions are very positive. I’ve found a great group full of young players and a well-prepared coach with clear ideas: over the past few weeks, we’ve been working as hard as we can to adapt to his expectations as quickly as possible and tackle the season in the best way possible.
I’m very happy to have already made my debut, because for a player like me, finding my rhythm in a game is essential. Plus, being able to take the field in a match helps me build a better rapport with my teammates, and that’s a very important aspect for the season.
I’m one of the more experienced players in terms of age and career, so I’m pleased to have the responsibility that comes with being one of the veterans. Physically, I might not be at my peak yet, but I’m training intensely, and I think I’ll be at my best very soon.
The technical vision and the desire to perform well right from the start were undoubtedly very important in my discussions with Director Angelozzi. Furthermore, this is a very significant club, with a rich tradition and passionate fans; I’m coming from another beautiful city, Salerno, and La Spezia’s quality of life certainly played a role in my decision—I’m very happy to be here.
The atmosphere in La Spezia? So far, I’ve only seen the “Picco” as a spectator, but I’ve found an incredible atmosphere that has driven the team from start to finish without ever letting up. For a young group like ours, this is undoubtedly a fundamental aspect that can help immensely during the game.
My position? My primary role is that of a playmaker, so I usually play in front of the defense, but lately I’ve also played as a central midfielder or a defender when needed: I’m focused on helping the team and I’m ready to do whatever it takes to do so.
Throughout my career, I’ve often found the back of the net, and I believe the coach’s approach can certainly bring out the best in my strengths, but right now what matters is getting into the best possible shape to be effective on the field.
I’ve found a group full of great guys, all very technically skilled. Of course, many are playing their first games in Serie C and need to adapt quickly to a league where every mistake comes at a high price.”
