Alexandre Hugeux brought home three crucial points from the derby in the absence of Thiago Motta in his first time on the bench:
"This victory has a special taste, it's good for the team, the staff, the fans, and the city. This is a festive evening, we are happy with the result, but the season is still long and the fight for salvation will be hard, we will go back to work immediately to continue on this path.
Surely we can do better to play with more serenity, in the first half we had more opportunities, in the second half we struggled a bit more, but we are a young group that has a great desire to grow and improve together. We worked hard this week, we were ready to face this match and tonight's victory was a gift from the team to all of us.
I'm convinced we've made a leap forward, it's important for us to keep up with the teams above us in the table, and the three points we earned tonight give us hope for the next part of the season. Milan will be a difficult opponent who is playing very well, but the three points tonight certainly give us more energy to face this week and the challenge ahead of us.
As far as the market is concerned, we're aware of the situation we're in, but we're totally satisfied with the players we have at our disposal and we'll do our best to continue to show their qualities on the pitch.
I haven't seen Thiago yet, but I'm sure he'll be very happy with the performance of the lads, and I imagine he's also disappointed that he couldn't be on the pitch to celebrate with them after the final whistle.
For me it was a wonderful experience, I lived every moment 100%, and I'm happy to have been part of this great victory."
