This afternoon saw the installation of a new permanent defibrillator at the Alberto Picco Stadium, located inside the refreshment area of the Curva Ferrovia section, which hosts thousands of fans during Spezia’s home games under coach Luca D’Angelo.
The life-saving device, dedicated to Michelangelo Orlandi, a young Spezia supporter and first responder who tragically passed away in October 2024, was donated to the stadium thanks to a major fundraising campaign led by Michelangelo’s family and friends. The initiative has already enabled the installation of several defibrillators across the La Spezia area.
Present at the ceremony were Michelangelo’s father Alfredo Orlandi, city councilor Guerri, friends and relatives, as well as a delegation from the local public assistance association. Speaking on behalf of Spezia Calcio, Operations Director Nicolò Peri said: "We are deeply moved by this gift, which, together with Alfredo, we decided to place in the refreshment area of the Curva Ferrovia, a sector dear to Michelangelo and frequented by many of his friends. It is also a strategic location, at the center of the stadium’s most populous section, making it highly functional in case of an emergency. This is exactly what Michelangelo would have wanted, a young man who always cared for others and had made helping people his life’s mission".
