Fresh off his debut in the white jersey during the closing minutes of the victorious match in San Benedetto del Tronto, Massimo Zilli introduced himself to the La Spezia press: “My first impressions have been extremely positive, and I’m happy to have already made my debut—especially with such an important victory. The decision was a no-brainer—you can’t say no to a club as prestigious as Spezia—and when I learned of the director’s interest, I made Spezia my top priority.
I’ve found several teammates I knew very well, and that certainly helps with settling in, but overall, this is a very positive, young, and determined group: there’s a great atmosphere here.
I’ve already played with Mazzocchi—he’s a tremendous player with truly outstanding skills; the coach will decide if we can play together, but I’ll make myself available and always give it my all.
I have fond memories of my early days at Pordenone—a club I hope will soon return to competing on the biggest stages—while my time at Lazio was a wonderful experience, where I learned from some truly great players and took away many valuable lessons.
I was lucky enough to play there as an opponent at the Picco, a stadium that will be crucial for us, especially in a season where there will undoubtedly be difficult moments—but with a stadium and a crowd like this, everything is easier. Starting with the match against Livorno, we’ll definitely have to give it our all to bring our fans new joy, especially because we want to keep fueling the excitement that’s in the air.
Goals? I think I have the potential to put up better numbers, but I’m still a player who loves to fight, help the team, create space, and make myself available to my teammates—and of course, I hope to improve my finishing as well.
The coach has very clear ideas; the team is focused on following his guidance, and we work hard in training. The forwards need to press high up the field, be ready and unmarked to receive the ball, and then, of course, they need to score.”
