With two days to go before Friday night’s home match against Bari, coach Luca D'Angelo shared his thoughts on the current state of the team: “We put in a solid performance in Salerno, one that we deservedly won, and I am very pleased with the effort shown by all the players who took the field.
We now face three games in quick succession but, right now, we are focused solely on Bari. We will approach the match with the lineup we feel is best suited for the challenge ahead.
In the last set of matches, we had fewer options in certain positions due to forced absences, but now we have everyone available except for Sarr, so we will definitely have more flexibility in our choices.
There are no indispensable players in Serie B; the strength lies in the collective effort. Everyone who gets the chance to play knows they have to give their all for the team’s success, and with hard work, the opportunity to prove their worth will always come.
We have many options available to us, both in attack and defense. Having such strong defenders is definitely a positive and not a problem. It will be up to me to make the right choices, as with other positions, based on the match, the opponents, and what I observe throughout the week.
Sibilli? I know him well; he’s a talented and strong player, and we will do our best to limit him. But like him, Bari has other quality players, so we will need to stay focused and determined, just as we have done so far.
The season is long, and it is too early to say if there is something different about the current top three teams compared to the rest. We need to wait before making those assessments. As for us, we must stay the course, focus on our goals, and not get distracted by anything else.
Have I changed tactically over the years? It’s natural for a coach to grow over time, especially through experience, and it’s important never to stop improving. Coaches adapt to the characteristics of the players they have, so it is only normal that I have evolved from the coach I was a few seasons ago.
As for the closure of the Curva Ferrovia, it is unfortunate, but it is a sacrifice we are happy to make, as it will help turn our stadium into a true gem. I am confident the redistribution of fans in the stadium will make up for the closure, and the Picco will once again make its voice heard.
I have full confidence in the entire team and the good fortune of working with a highly professional group that always trains hard and respects decisions without complaint. I am very satisfied with all the players I have at my disposal, and I must particularly commend the forwards, who might feel the most affected by the rotations and competition. Nevertheless, they have shown great enthusiasm and fully understand the situation".
